University robotics club lunar rover | Perseus V2 QUT ROAR

Perseus is the Queensland University Robotic Club's lunar rover that competes annually at the domestic Australian Rover Challenge and just recently NASA Lunabotics.

Annually Perseus competes at ARCh, a 4 day competition where various sub systems are tested with different challenges, such as remote manipulation of a control panel with a teleop arm, or excavating lunar regolith as fast and efficiently as possible. Perseus consists of custom PCBs, from ESP32-based "small brain boards" that sit on CAN-bus and relay sensor data or control different modular sub systems, to the excavation module that is a 6 channel H-Bridge that controls 3 banks of 2 linear actuators that can lift well over 15kg of lunar sand. We design everything as to fit the project within our limited budget while having all the features we need to succeed.


We are a small team of only 10 members yet we have been driven enough to capture the attention of NASA, where we were invited to showcase our rover during the 2025 NASA Lunabotics competition, usually meant for US domestic students. This was a major event for us and we want to refine what we currently have with Perseus to go further. As such we will be redesigning a few electrical systems, namely the excavation PCB, "small brain boards" and certainly a few others. A sponsorship from you guys at PCBway would go a long way to help us, continued support could also be an option as Perseus is a general purpose chassis with many sub systems that will be developed over the years for QUT.
