Team QBotix - Robocon 2025
We are Team Q-Botix, the official Robocon team of Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, India established in 2022 under our student innovation forum. What began as a small group of curious minds has now grown into a multidisciplinary team of young engineers, united by a shared passion for building purposeful, high-performance robots.
Our team is structured into four core technical domains:
In just two years, we've combined innovation, teamwork, and technical depth to rise among the top student robotics teams in India. We’re proud to have achieved an All India Rank of 17 (AIR 17) in DD Robocon 2024, standing out among 100+ engineering institutions across the country.
At Q-Botix, we believe in learning by doing – pushing boundaries through hands-on experimentation, rigorous testing, and continuous improvement. Every robot we build reflects our commitment to engineering excellence, creativity, and collaboration.
This year, we are inspired to participate in ABU Robocon 2025, aiming to clear the DD Robocon Nationals in India. Our project involves building two intelligent semi-autonomous robots to play a fast-paced game of "Robot Basketball" focusing on precision, coordination, and real-time control.
ABU Robocon 2025 is hosted by Mongolia, and the theme for this year is “Robot Basketball”. The competition draws inspiration from the globally loved sport of basketball, challenging participants to recreate its excitement and teamwork through robotics.
Teams are required to build two robots that must work together to complete a series of basketball-related tasks within a time-bound match (120s). The robots must perform actions such as:
Our robots for Robocon 2025 are equipped with high-performance power and computing units to perform complex semi-autonomous basketball tasks such as shooting, passing, zone-based scoring, and defense.
Power Unit:
Each robot is powered using LiPo batteries, supplying stable and sufficient current to drive motors, actuators, sensors, and processors during intense gameplay conditions.
Control & Computing Unit:
To ensure reliable and efficient operation of our robots, we require custom-designed PCBs that serve critical roles in:
Our decision to take on the ABU Robocon 2025 challenge is driven by a deep passion for robotics and an unshakable commitment to represent our institution and country on the international stage. The moment the Robot Basketball theme was announced, we knew this was our opportunity to push our limits — not just as engineers, but as innovators, collaborators, and problem-solvers.
This project demands everything we’ve got — from precision mechanics and embedded control to real-time AI and autonomous decision-making. But it’s exactly this complexity that excites us. We’re determined to bring this vision to life, despite the challenges, because we believe in what we’re building. Our robots are a reflection of our skills, sleepless nights, relentless testing, and unbreakable teamwork.
We’re not just participating — we’re striving to win, to learn, and to inspire. And for that, we’re giving it everything we have.
As a student robotics team working toward an ambitious goal on an international stage, precision, reliability, and quality are at the heart of everything we build. Our robots rely heavily on custom-designed PCBs for power management and control — and that’s where PCBWay’s expertise matters most.
We’re seeking PCBWay’s support because:
With PCBWay as our sponsor, we can confidently move forward in building robust, competition-ready PCBs that power our journey to Robocon 2025.
