SOLAR Rocketry PSU Liquid Rocket Engine Project
SOLAR Rocketry has a vision—to deliver space payloads reliably, at a fraction of the cost of today’s competitors.
Our first liquid rocket engine, Geoff, marks a key milestone in achieving that vision. Geoff is a reusable platform fueled by isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and pressurized with gaseous oxygen (GOX).
Designed to demonstrate chemical propulsion capabilities destined for future space bus vehicles, Geoff serves as a critical testbed for the program.
Geoff’s electronics system utilizes two Arduino Uno microcontrollers, a custom flight control PCB, solenoid valves, pressure transducers, a spark plug, and a load cell.
Geoff’s nozzle, injector plates, and fuel tank are custom-designed and precisely machined in-house from aluminum.
SOLAR Rocketry at Penn State plans to static fire Geoff this September. With PCBway's support, we can fulfill our mission of affordable space payload transit.
