Who are we?

Rutgers Dynamics is a robotics club at Rutgers University that partners with similar clubs at Caltech, Columbia, and Berkeley to create and develop open-source affordable quadrupedal robots for educational and research use. Our team is made of passionate students from a variety of backgrounds, who are dedicated to developing unique robots.

Our background

Currently, powerful open-source quadrupedal robots have high barriers to entry, like cost and confusing documentation, that prevent early-career roboticists from gaining vital experiences and skills that translate to future innovation. Our goal is to bridge the gap in access by partnering with robotics clubs across the United States to develop a standard educational model that can keep up with current innovations and bring young engineers into the field.  Part of that goal is developing an easily reproducible robotic quadruped with straightforward documentation.

We have already developed and manufactured belt-driven robotic legs that we plan on integrating with a body to create our first quadruped prototype. The demo video of our leg can be seen here or below: https://www.ccbr.dev/gallery#gallery-leg-integration-test-2025-08-22

Where we're headed

Our current goal is to be able to demo our prototype at MakeCU hackathon at Columbia University in early November. We have the mechanical parts and PCB designs developed, however, we need help with bringing them into reality.

Why PCBWay?

Our robots need reliable and robust PCBs that can handle our power and complexity demands as we continue development. Without reliable PCBs, we may not be able to demo our current model.

PCBWay's circuit boards are exactly what our project needs. With PCBWay’s help, our club and collaborators will be able to expedite deployment of our robot and spread robotics education to emerging engineers in universities across the nation.
