PicoFlight - Pico-sized flight computer
As years passed assisting students on their rocketry projects and with more and more complex amateur rocketry projects on my count, I wanted to make an all-in-one, super-small, very easily integrable solution that answers all the typical needs.
The PicoFlight is the solution that I've come up with. It's a very tiny, open-source flight computer with all the necessary sensors and I/Os in order to perform all basic tasks needed for the job.
Here are its main features :
And it's pinout :
As in the picture, PicoFlight has already been built, validated and will be published very soon under the CERN-OHL-W v2 license on GitLab.
But this project is not limited to this board only; in fact, extension boards already exist, adding even more functionalities.
As of today, here are the extension boards that I've already designed and will soon follow on GitLab :
As you may think, this project is a bit on the expensive side for an individual engineer like me, particularly due to the production costs of the PCB and the sub-optimal yield due to hand assembly of these PCBs.
In this way, a sponsorship with PCBWay would be a great help on this project, assisting me with their PCB and PCBA services and by removing a bit of the financial pressure, thus letting me focus on improving/creating boards and improving software to even more assist students and enthusiasts in their amateur rocketry endeavor.
