Hello all, we are Formula UC3M, the Formula Student team from Carlos III University in Madrid.

We are a bilingual multidisciplinary group formed by 50 members between students and teachers. Our purpose is the design, development and production of a competition car, and our goal is to compete against other prestigious universities in Formula Student. Last season we achieved our goal with great effort and thanks to the support of our sponsors and partners, having competed at the circuits of Montmeló in Barcelona for Formula Student Spain, as well as at the Hockenheimring in Germany for Formula Student Germany, the most prestigious Formula Student event in Europe.

Although our main focus as of now is the development of our 2020 Formula Student Combustion prototype, we are also in the early stages of developing an Electric Vehicle and  Driverless Vehicle prototype. Ever since our first car back in 2016 we have strived to implement the most advanced technology we are capable of, from including a complete aerodynamic package on our first year, to the design and manufacturing of a carbon fiber monocoque since 2017. It is our intention to continue with this tradition of technological achievement well into the future with our EV and DV programs.

Compared to other European competitors we are very much among the smallest and least funded teams. Our financial situation puts an enormous strain on the development of the car. It is quite common for team members to lend large sums of money out of their own pockets to the team so that the project can continue. What we lack in money, however, we make up for with ingenuity and hard work.
