We are Team Ethan Racing Electric, a Formula Student team from Vidyavardhini’s College of Engineering and Technology, Vasai. Our team comprises a group of passionate engineering students who design, develop, and manufacture a Formula-style electric race car each year, competing in prestigious competitions such as Formula Bharat. Most recently, in January 2024, we proudly secured 17th place overall and 9th in the Design Event at Formula Bharat 2024.

Our team is organized into multiple subsystems, including Mechanical, Electrical, Business, and Media, all working collaboratively to build a high-performance electric race car.

Given the electric nature of our vehicle, safety and reliability are paramount, and we employ advanced circuitry systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with standards.

One of our critical systems is the TSAL (Tractive System Active Light) circuit. This safety system continuously monitors the vehicle’s status, providing clear visual indications:

Green Light: HV (High Voltage) is off, and the vehicle is safe to work on.

Flashing Red Light: HV is on, warning against contact with HV components.

The TSAL circuit also detects faults such as open circuits or short circuits to the supply voltage, ensuring operational safety.

AMS_IMD latch

Another vital system is the AMS_IMD Latch, which monitors and detects faults related to the Battery Management System (BMS) and Insulation Monitoring Device (IMD). Using CAN BUS communication, this circuit ensures continuous oversight of the battery pack, including parameters such as current, temperature, and voltage, further enhancing vehicle safety and reliability.
