DESCRIPTION

My name is Erik Alvarado and I am an electrical engineering student from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I am part of the Supermileage Vehicle Club and we are developing our first electric vehicle!

Every year we build a prototype vehicle to compete in Shell's Eco-Marathon Competition, a race focused on fuel efficiency. For the 2019 competition, we are building an electric vehicle and I am in charge of developing a custom built motor controller.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

The motor controller consists of a control, driver, and power stage. The control stage is done with a TI microcontroller which will be mounted to the PCB via through-hole pins. The launchpad will send PWM signals to the driver stage which will step up the voltage and turn on the correspoding MOSFETs to generate the three phases. The power stage will be handled with power MOSFETs which will switch in the 48V power supply to the motor.

Words to PCBWay

We would greatly appreciate the sponsorship for the project for our first ever electric vehicle.
