We are pleased to introduce ourselves as Aurora Rocketry, a team composed by aerospace engineering students of the University of Bologna based in Forlì. We are a non-profit organization and our goal is to cultivate skilled and passionate engineers that can work together as a team (you can visit here our website https://www.aurorarocketry.eu).

Our team is divided into various departments:

  • Mission and control: plan the mission and estimate the trajectory with software
  • Structure: Transform the project into reality by utilizing CAD for rocket part design
  • Propulsion: choose the team propulsion system and assembly it
  • Logistic and media: coordinate our departments and align everyone toward common goals, ensuring smooth collaboration
  • Aerodynamics: collaborate with Mission Analysis to choose the best rocket design to reduce drag at minimum
  • Recovery: design the rocket recovery system and study the loads, shapes and materials of the parachute
  • Electronics: Make the on-board the electronics of the rocket as well as the ground station

Our members are in a fast-paced, team-based environment where they acquire technical skills as well as improve communication and project management skills. Within this multidisciplinary setting, members study mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineering in depth.

In working towards solving real-world problems, our members learn and develop their problem-solving abilities as well as flexibility while learning to document every single step of the project.

Through these experiences, not only are the members technically capable but they are also trained to work together in order to ensure they turn a dream into reality.

We are honored to be one of only two Italian teams participating in EUROC 2025, Europe's premier university event for rocket design and launches. All this has been the result of months of relentless effort, innovation, testing, and overcoming challenges. Our activities over the past two years have been focused on designing and fabricating two rockets: Borealis and Nemesis.

Our electronics team is made up of 7 guys who in these years have worked and produced, thanks also to the help of PCBway, several PCBs to be mounted on our rockets.

The latest PCBs that are being designed will be mounted on our latest rocket NEMESIS.

The avionics of this rocket is made up of 2 boards:

  • Sensor and computational board --> board on which the sensors and the on-board computer are mounted. This board is responsible for carrying out the rocket's navigation
  • Antenna board --> card on which the antennas needed to estimate the position (GPS) and share the data collected on the ground (radio antenna) are mounted

Here are some pictures:

We believe that PCBWay’s support in the development of our boards can be an extremely valuable contribution. We have been using your services since the birth of our team, appreciating their reliability and quality. We would like to start a closer collaboration, convinced that, together, we can reach increasingly ambitious goals!
